Toyota Yaris

TRUE CAR EXPERIENCE: What car should I get?!

As with all things in life, one has to be careful and research heavily into what they must purchase. Always, always, always, do this! Be conscientious of your decisions and study what you purchase well. Everything you purchase should last a lifetime or depreciate like molasses. Usually those two go together. This should be no issue thanks to the internet and advances in AI that makes researching things a breeze. Therefore, there should be no doubt about which car you should buy.

Japanese.

Next time you go out, pay attention to the cars around you and notice which ones are the oldest on the street. Is it the American Fords and GMC’s? Nope. Is it the German luxury brands? Nope. They are generally, almost unanimously, Japanese, save for a few Volkswagen models and a few American pickups.

Now yes, it is entirely dependent on the model you get and Toyota does make models that are terrible, for instance their newer turbo engine sucks and some of their older models of the Toyota Matrix had transmission and engine issues. But a good Toyota is nothing compared to a good car from any other manufacturer, it does not even come close. A Toyota Yaris from 2015 will last years if you change the oil, fluids, wash it (if in the rustbelt) and other things.

Don’t buy a car based off of performance, or based off of how fast it goes or how cute it is or any of that stuff. Unless you do not care about having a reliable car or prioritize performance over your car breaking down and ruining your entire day. Sure, it might be fun to drive a Dodge Challenger. But it’s obviously better to be driving than to be waiting at a mechanics or dealership!

Exceptions.

The reason why Japanese cars are so reliable is they use tried and true methods that have been engineered for decades, but also putting in money and effort into the vehicle so that it isn’t cheap. Thus, you can find plenty of cars like this even outside of the Japanese market. I’ve driven Ford cars that were even more reliable than Japanese cars because they were built with engines, transmissions, and a chassis that Ford has been perfecting for decades.

Normally though, nine times out of ten, it is usually Japanese engineers that do this.
